| The Slater had her Torpedo tubes removed shortly after her shakedown cruise and replaced with four single-40mm mounts (Army type, no directors). Removal of torpedos was typical for Atlantic duty ships. Later these were replace by two twin-40mm mounts, prior to her Pacific duty. Originally the Slater had 10 single-20mm guns. Later, prior to her Pacific duty, these were replaced with twin-20mm guns. The two forward of the bridge were reduced to one by the Hellenic Navy. Armament currently is: three 3 inch/50 Cal cannons, three twin-40mm (Bofors) guns, nine twin-20mm (Oerlikon) guns, four K-Guns for launching depth charges (originally 8, 4 on each side, four were removed by the Hellenic Navy), a Hedgehog or forward arrayed depth charge weapon, and one rear depth charge rack (was two, one removed by the Hellenic Navy). The wartime crew of the Slater was 201 with 146 on deck at battle stations. Original design was a crew of 186, and the Hellenic Navy listed it as 220. |
