The Second Platform level is essentially divided into three sections, forward cstorage areas, engine and motor rooms, and aft storage areas.
The forward section starts at the bow with the Botswain's Storage. Next aft is the chain locker. Next aft is the Underwater Sound Room #1 accessed by a hatch from the 2nd Platform. The next spaces are accessed by hatchs from the 2nd Platform are storage areas, 3 inch ammo magazine, 20mm ammo magazine, and hedgehog fuze storage. The next area is accessed by a stair from the First PlatformForward Crew Berthing and includes the Electrical Engineering stores, Refrigerated storage, and ice macine room with compressors for the reefers. The next area is accessed by a stair from the First Platform Mess Area and includes the First Lieutenant stores, Gyro Room, and Dry Provisions. This is followed by diesel oil tanks and there is no access further aft through the engine and motor sections. The middle section consists of the Forward Engine Room, Forward Motor Room, Aft Engine Room and Aft Motor Room. These are all accessed independently from hatches in the main deck passageway on the starboard side of the galley and muffler rooms. There are emergency exit hatches on the main deck on the port side. There is no interconnectivity between the engine and motor rooms. The aft section following the engine and motor rooms start with a series of diesel oil tanks and fresh water tanks. In the ship's enter are a 40MM ammo magazine, Depth Charge Pistol Ammo storage, and 3 Inch Ammo Magazine. The next spaces are accessed by hatchs from the 2nd Platform are storage areas on Port and Starboard with Depth Charge Magazine in the center. The next spaces are accessed by a hatch from the 2nd Platform are S. D. storage areas on Port and Starboard with 40MM Ammo Magazine in the center. The last area is a void space. |
